 We have 6 full time and 3 part time Veterinary Surgeons who provide a first opinion service and a referral service in Cardiorespiratory medicine and Ultrasonography. 3 fully qualified Veterinary Nurses and 2 trainee Veterinary Nurses complete the vet care team. 4 Receptionists and our Practice Administrator make up our client care team who will be happy to help with any query that you may have. 
      
 

Consultations

An appointment system operates at Wincanton, Gillingham and our satellite branches at Milborne Port and Mere. Please telephone to make an appointment on the day and at the surgery of your choice. We will endeavour wherever possible to ensure there is continuity of care so you can see the same vet throughout your animal’s illness. We also offer a home visit service for those clients who are unable to bring their pets into the surgery

Our qualified Veterinary Nurses offer regular clinics in all areas of animal health care including Senior Clinics, Weight Clinics and Dietary Advice, New Puppy or Kitten checks, Youth club and Dental checks. We also hold puppy parties for a fun and informative evening.

Our Vets and Nurses are always available to offer advice on any aspect of animal care and discuss any concerns you may have.

 

Practice Facilities

The Surgeries at Wincanton, Gillingham and Milborne Port are air-conditioned to ensure comfort for you and your pet and all our surgeries are linked by computer network for fast access to records. We have a wide and comprehensive range of diagnostic and surgical equipment including Doppler Ultrasonography, Electrocardiography, Endoscopy, Radiography, Cryosurgery and Diathermy. Our in-house laboratory is equipped with facilities for
haematology and biochemistry analysis, microscopy, faecal and urinalysis, thus allowing us to promptly evaluate your pet’s health. Comfortable, modern hospitalisation facilities are available for your pet.

 

Continued Education and Development

Our aim is to continually improve the service and expertise we can offer. We are members of many specialist Veterinary organisations to give us access to the latest information and training.

An independent inspection and audit by the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons has recognised our commitment to the highest standards of veterinary care by granting the practice Tier II status, the highest award available in general mixed practice. The practice is also registered with the RCVS as a training practice for Veterinary nurses.

 

Emergency Service

We offer a 24 hour emergency service. This service is staffed exclusively by members of the practice, so that you will see familiar faces in a familiar environment.

 

Fees

We are always happy to discuss the likely cost of treatment and investigation and can provide estimates of likely fees. Additional costs can be incurred because it is not always possible to project how long a particular operation may last or which medicines may be needed. All fees are due for payment at time of consultation.

We recommend Pet Insurance. This can offer you peace of mind for the unexpected.

Practice News

105 miles in the saddle for Richard and Jon!

Veterinary surgeons Richard Gale and Jon Highet have set themselves the challenge of cycling 105 miles around Somerset in one day of the Tour of Wessex on May 28th 2011.

It is hoped that sponsorship will help raise funds for local charities the Somerset and Dorset Animal Rescue and the Mere & Gillingham Branch of the Cats Protection League. Both charities work very hard to help sick and homeless animals return to health and find new homes in the local area.

Birthday Celebrations at Gillingham!
Our Gillingham Surgery has just reached its third birthday. We have been really pleased with the support we have received from the local community and have had the pleasure of welcoming many new clients to the surgery.
